Beer Bob Speaks is a sports memoir about a Kansas City youth born on the cusp of the Civil Rights Movement who escaped the dangers of the urban core through his love of sports. While Robert Gillis never played professional baseball, he did continue his passion for the game as a beer vendor at Kaufman Stadium beginning in 1978. Beer Bob reminisces about Kansas City Royals baseball history including the 1985 World Series victory, the devastating 1994 strikes, and the 2003 comeback season all from the perspective of a loyal beer vendor called BEER BOB by his customers along first base.
